K148 - and lots of art tomorrow!

Some of you might know K148, who in my opinion is by far the best photographer of street art in Bristol (and pretty much anywhere else), and is also an occasional member of TCF.

Well, she's got a few photos in the next show in the gallery at Photographique, which opens tomorrow - really lovely black and white film pictures of Bristol graffiti writers.

The rest of the show is b&w portraits of members of the Invisible Circus.

The opening is from 7pm tomorrow, no idea how it's on for, but I'd guess at least a week

Photographique, 31 Baldwin Street, Bristol, BS1 1RG
Opening night - Thursday 28th May, 7pm - 9(?)
Monday - Friday 10-6, Saturday 11-5

I know, I'm rubbish, I'll find out more and stick it up tomorrow!

My plan for tomorrow - Ponk & Amour show at Emporium (6-8pm Emporium, Stokes Croft - still not seen it, looks great through the window though), K148 and then the Twinkle & Tinsel opening at the Long Arm Gallery - great art and great people - perfect!

Children of the Can Jam!

Dicy-Soker-Feek-Ponk, originally uploaded by knautia.

It was a freezing weekend, but despite the sub-zero temperatures and Arctic winds off the Avon, a huge posse of fabulous and talented writers from waaaaay back in the day through to the brandest of new mustered on the harbourside to paint the Bristol Museum fence.

All this choreographed by FLX, in honour of the publication of Children of the Can: 25 Years of Bristol Graffiti. For more info, see FLX's blog here... Had such a good time, meeting people whose stuff I've loved from the book (and being too shy to say hello to others - if you ever read this, hello!) as well as catching up with a whole load of people I admire... Am just about thawed out, and i just turned up at the ends and took pics!

Because of cold, life, all sorts of things, the fence isn't finished yet... but watch this space for the joiner to end all joiners in a few weeks... and in the meantime enjoy these - with more here

Mina Road tunnel

St Werburgh's tunnel, originally uploaded by knautia.

I'm obsessed with the gorgeous graff in the tunnel at the mo' - given the last couple of weeks having a couple of rain-proof walls can only be a good thing.... Both of these are best large - double-click on them and choose "all sizes"....

aagh september 'stitch - finished wall

25 September 2006

aagh wall

This autostitch is kind of faked, as the pictures were taken over about half an hour, and because the wall was being painted by about 9 different people, it was never this clear. This is made with random pics that I'm really surprised stuck together - so the wall never looked exactly like this. But it gets near enough the nearly-done-ness. I especially like the outlines and ghost-images of ladders and spraycans that the 'stitch software has made!
